The Fashion Show Production class has been working hard all semester to put on one of Marist’s biggest and most anticipated events of the year that will showcase student designs. The class has given students a unique hands on experience that will be helpful for their future endeavors in the industry. With the Silver Needle Runway less than a month away, each team in the class has been working on key responsibilities and deadlines that need to be met in order for the Silver Needle Runway to run smoothly and successfully on May 4th.
The Communications Team has been working hard on final marketing and promotional tasks for the show. They have been reaching out to industry professionals and press contacts to receive RSVPs, creating posters to promote the show, working on the press kit and more. A huge project that they have been working on in these final weeks is the show’s program. This year, the communications team really wanted to focus on making the program innovative and engaging, while still reflecting the theme of the show. With the show being a “digital utopia,” the team wanted to represent that by utilizing technology and digital trends.
The Creative Team has been working on bringing the show’s creative vision to life. This includes picking out music for the runway and front of house, working on the second promo video, and designing merchandise for the show. The show will be incorporating bright colors, lights and projections and the students have been working on showcasing these factors through several photo opportunities and other front of house designs.
From professional model casting in New York City to finalizing hair and makeup, the Production Team is beginning to get together the finishing touches in order for the day of show to run smoothly. Backstage during the show can get very hectic, so the team is working on making everything as organized as possible. They are creating garment tags, organizing clothing racks, and holding orientations for student volunteers.
The Fashion Show Production class invites you to The Silver Needle Runway on May 4th at both 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, New York.
