The Marist Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America has been creating new and exciting opportunities for Public Relations students to get more involved in the industry. The Public Relations Student Society of America is a national pre-professional organization that teaches students more about the Public Relations industry and helps students launch their careers after graduation.
Last Sunday, the organization held the first ever PRunch, which brought Marist Alumni back to campus to speak to students about launching their careers and their everyday tasks. The name “PRunch” came from combining the word Public Relations and Brunch. Marist Alumni helped represent some of the top agencies in New York City including Ketchum, Healthquest, Buttonwood Communications, Infinite Global, United Entertainment Group and the Zeno Group!

Michael O’Brien speaking about mentorship
During the event, Partner and Chief Client Officer of Ketchum PR Michael O’Brien spoke about the importance of mentorship during your academic and post-graduate career. “Get something out of your career that brings new and interesting things to you and your organization – that is career building. You give and you get. Always get as much as you give where you work,” he explained. Along with listening to our Keynote speaker, there were various activities like our voting game and photo booth with Lowell Thomas. Students and alumni were also able to participate in an interactive social media wall when including the hashtag #PRunch.
